Society Purpose
  • The KEEP WHANGAPARAOA ’ S GREEN SPACES incorporated society was formed by a group of Whangaparaoa residents who are passionate about preserving Open Space Zoned land on the peninsula. KWGS Inc has very clear objectives:
  • The Whangaparaoa Peninsula must retain its Open Space zones for the amenity, recreation and enjoyment of residents of, and visitors to, this unique environment.
  • The Society will:​
  • Work to preserve Unitary Plan open space zones on the Peninsula,
  • Raise community awareness of threats to Open Space zones & impacts on infrastructure congestion of any rezoning of Open Space to Residential zone,
  • Lobby Council and Central Government to ensure they are fully aware of community opposition to develop Open Space zoned land,
  • Liaise with like-minded groups in the Whangaparaoa community and beyond to ensure a broad & consistent message of opposition to rezoning,
  • Make submissions to Council to oppose Resource Consent applications and/or Planning Change applications that would threaten Open Space zones.

Society Rules

Every incorporated society is required to have a constitution or set of rules, stating clearly how it intends to be run. These rules cover certain basic functions and responsibilities, such as why the society exists, the conditions of membership, and how the society will hold meetings, make decisions, manage their finances, and elect officers.

Membership
  • Any person may become a Supporting Member of the Society through the
  • submission of an application for membership sent to the Society,
  • and payment of the annual subscription of $50. To Join as a supporting member click here

  • Donations are also welcome to anybody to help meet the ongoing costs associated with achieving our aims. To donate click here.
